We had so many topics to write about this week as we continue on our Keto journey. We wanted to talk about macros and how to figure out a good starting place. This would be how many fats, carbs, and proteins we should target each day. Keto 101. We decided to move this to our next blog as something else has come up over and over this week that needs to be addressed now. It is around the topic of food gifts.
I don’t know if this was “National Feed Your Friends Week Whether They Want To Be Fed or Not,” but every single day over the past week, someone has set food or a special cocktail in front of me as a present. Not once did I ask for it, nor did I expect it. Now before this sounds like these are thoughtless uncaring people, let me say the exact opposite is true. Every single one of them is kind, gracious and thoughtful. Their food was a special gift to me, AND it was exactly NOT what I wanted to eat with my new food lifestyle. My dilemma; be rude and say no thank you, or eat/drink and sabotage my personal goals.
I decided to do a bit of research on this topic. It was hysterical. There are all kinds of articles written on how to deal with “food pushers”. I had never heard this term, nor thought of many of the responses that were presented. Seriously some of them were pretty funny. Personally, I have found that with people who like to feed me it is more about their love language and culture. This is how they show love and welcome. As we approach Mother’s Day, this topic can really come up, as Mom’s generally like to feed their kids. It just makes us feel, well motherly. Now that my children are grown and have kids of their own, there is nothing better than having everyone at the table for a family meal. For us, the food that is presented at the meal has changed. That is another topic for another day☺!
Every day something new comes up that I would never have thought would be part of my Keto Journey. How to say no to food pushers and Love Languages.
We’d love to hear how you respond.
Happy Mother’s Day!
XO,
Sherri and Kylee
